ततो<ब्रवीन्महात्मा स एन॑ राजा युधिष्ठिर: । बृहनज्नला यस्य यन्ता कथं स न जयेद् युधि,तब महात्मा राजा युधिष्ठिरने विराटसे कहा--“बृहन्नला जिसका सारथि हो, वह युद्धमें कैसे नहीं जीतेगा?”
tato 'bravīn mahātmā sa enaṁ rājā yudhiṣṭhiraḥ | bṛhannalā yasya yantā kathaṁ sa na jayed yudhi ||
Kemudian raja Yudhiṣṭhira yang berhati luhur berkata kepada Virāṭa: “Bagaimana mungkin dia tidak menang di medan perang, sedangkan Bṛhannalā menjadi sais keretanya?”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Competent guidance and steadfast capability (here symbolized by the charioteer Bṛhannalā) can secure victory in righteous struggle; leadership recognizes and relies on proven skill rather than mere status.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Yudhiṣṭhira speaks with assurance: if Bṛhannalā serves as the charioteer, the warrior in question is unlikely to lose in battle—hinting at Bṛhannalā’s exceptional prowess and strategic value.
