Adhyāya 6: Kaṅka (Yudhiṣṭhira) Seeks Refuge in Virāṭa’s Assembly
इस प्रकार श्रीमह्या भारत विराटपर्वके अन्तर्गत पाण्डवप्रवेशपर्वमें नगरप्रवेशके लिये अस्त्रस्थापनविषयक पाँचवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ,भारावतरणे पुण्ये ये स्मरन्ति सदाशिवाम् | तान् वै तारयसे पापात् पड़के गामिव दुर्बलाम् 'पृथ्वीका भार उतारनेवाली पुण्यमयी देवि! तुम सदा सबका कल्याण करनेवाली हो। जो लोग तुम्हारा स्मरण करते हैं, निश्चय ही तुम उन्हें पाप और उसके फलस्वरूप होनेवाले दुःखसे उबार लेती हो; ठीक उसी तरह, जैसे कोई पुरुष कीचड़में फँसी हुई दुर्बल गायका उद्धार कर देता है"
bhārāvataraṇe puṇye ye smaranti sadāśivām | tān vai tārayase pāpāt paṅke gām iva durbalām ||
Vaiśampāyana berkata: “Wahai Dewi suci yang meringankan beban bumi, sentiasa membawa tuah dan kesejahteraan! Sesiapa yang mengingati engkau, pasti engkau selamatkan daripada dosa dan penderitaan yang mengikutinya—seperti seorang lelaki mengangkat keluar seekor lembu yang lemah yang terperangkap dalam lumpur.”
