Educational Q&A

The verse upholds the ideal of dhārmic kingship: a ruler should establish a realm free from deceit and intrigue, and true prosperity is linked to ethical governance and unity among kin—especially the brothers who share responsibility for restoring order.

The narrator Vaiśampāyana conveys a consoling assurance to the addressed king (in context, Yudhiṣṭhira): after hardship, he will regain sovereignty, enjoy the earth again, and experience great joy together with his brothers—foreshadowing restoration after conflict.
