Virāṭa’s Mobilization to Recover the Cattle (गोधनरक्षणार्थ विराटस्य सैन्यसमायोजनम्)
वैशग्पायन उवाच ते सम गत्वा यथोद्दिष्टां दिशं वल्लेमहीपते । संनद्धा रथिन: सर्वे सपदाता बलोत्कटा:,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--महाराज! तदनन्तर पूर्व वैरका बदला लेनेकी इच्छावाले त्रिगर्तदेशीय रथी और पैदल सैनिक कवच आदि धारण करके तैयार हो गये। वे सभी महान् बलवान् और प्रचण्ड पराक्रमी थे। सुशर्माने विराटकी गौओंका अपहरण करनेके लिये पूर्वनिश्चित योजनाके अनुसार कृष्णपक्षकी सप्तमीको अग्निकोणकी ओरसे विराटनगरपर चढ़ाई की
Vaiśampāyana uvāca—te samaṃ gatvā yathoddiṣṭāṃ diśaṃ vallabha-māhīpate | saṃnaddhā rathinaḥ sarve sa-padātā balotkaṭāḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana berkata: “Wahai raja yang dikasihi, mereka bergerak bersama-sama ke arah yang telah ditetapkan sebelumnya. Kesemuanya—para pahlawan kereta bersama askar berjalan kaki—telah lengkap bersenjata dan berperisai, menggerunkan dengan kekuatan dan garang dengan keberanian.”
