Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 25: Kaurava Deliberation and the Search Directive (अन्वेषण-आदेशः)

पाण्डवानां प्रवृत्ति च विद्य: कर्मापि वा कृतम्‌ । स न: शाधि मनुष्येन्द्र अत ऊर्ध्व विशाम्पते,जान पड़ता है; वे बिल्कुल नष्ट हो गये। भरतश्रेष्ठल आपको नमस्कार है। हम महात्मा पाण्डवोंके मार्ग, निवासस्थान, प्रवृत्ति अथवा उनके द्वारा किये हुए कार्यके विषयमें कुछ भी जानकारी नहीं प्राप्त कर सके। प्रजापालक नरेश! इसके बाद हमारे लिये क्‍या आज्ञा है?

vaiśampāyana uvāca | pāṇḍavānāṁ pravṛttiṁ ca vidyāḥ karmāpi vā kṛtam | sa naḥ śādhi manuṣyendra ata ūrdhvaṁ viśāmpate ||

Vaiśampāyana berkata: “Kami tidak dapat mengetahui apa-apa tentang para Pāṇḍava—gerak-geri mereka, tempat mereka berada, kegiatan mereka, atau apa jua perbuatan yang mungkin telah mereka lakukan. Maka, wahai tuan segala manusia, wahai pemerintah rakyat, ajarlah kami: apakah yang harus dilakukan mulai saat ini?”
