Draupadī’s Grief at Seeing the Heroes in Disguise
so ’yaṁ dyūtapravādena śriyaḥ pratyavaropitaḥ | tūṣṇīm āste yathā mūḍhaḥ svāni karmāṇi cintayan ||
Kini dia duduk membisu seperti orang kebingungan, merenungi perbuatannya sendiri.”
The verse underscores the ethical consequence of adharma associated with gambling: a person can be brought low from prosperity and honor, and is left to confront the results of his own actions in silent remorse.
Vaiśampāyana describes a figure who, due to the dice-game episode, has lost his former fortune and standing; he now sits quietly, stunned and reflective, thinking over what he has done.
