Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic discipline: when instructed by realized sages, one should assent respectfully, make a firm vow to follow the prescribed conduct, and proceed under the protection of auspicious rites—showing humility, obedience to wise counsel, and commitment to right action.

After hearing the sages’ instructions, the Pāṇḍavas and Draupadī agree—“so be it”—and formally pledge to follow them. The assembled seers then perform svastyayana (benedictory rites) for their welfare, marking a ritually sanctioned and protected departure or undertaking.
