Tīrtha-yātrā: Prayāga-saṅgama and Gayaśiras—Rājarṣi Gaya’s Mahāyajña
ते यूयं मानसै: शुद्धा: शरीरनियमव्रतै: । दैव॑ं ब्रत॑ं समास्थाय यथोक्तं फलमाप्स्यथ,तुम मानसिक और शारीरिक नियमत्रतोंसे शुद्ध हो। दैवव्रतका आश्रय ले यात्रा करोगे तो तीर्थोंका तुम्हें यथावत् फल प्राप्त होगा
te yūyaṃ mānasaiḥ śuddhāḥ śarīra-niyama-vrataiḥ | daivaṃ vrataṃ samāsthāya yathoktaṃ phalam āpsyatha ||
Vaiśampāyana berkata: “Kamu, yang telah disucikan oleh disiplin batin dan oleh nazar pengekangan jasmani, hendaklah berpegang pada ‘nazar ilahi’ sebagaimana ditetapkan. Jika kamu melangkah dalam semangat ini, kamu akan memperoleh hasil tepat seperti yang dinyatakan oleh tradisi.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Religious merit is not merely mechanical; it depends on purification through inner (mental) discipline and outer (bodily) restraint. When one undertakes a sacred vow in the prescribed manner, the promised spiritual results follow.
Vaiśampāyana instructs the listeners (in the context of prescribed observances, often connected with pilgrimage and vows) that by adopting disciplined vows—both mental and physical—and following the divine observance correctly, they will receive the stated fruits.
