Educational Q&A

The verse teaches that reverent ritual behavior—especially pradakṣiṇā (circumambulation) and a proper approach to the deity—cultivates auspiciousness and moral-spiritual radiance. Respectful conduct toward the sacred is presented as a dharmic discipline that transforms the practitioner.

Pulastya is giving prescriptive guidance on how one should approach a sacred locus and Mahādeva. The instruction describes a sequence of devotional actions (circumambulate, withdraw properly, proceed to the foremost place, approach Śiva) and states the resulting benefit through a vivid simile: the devotee shines like the moon.
