Vaiśampāyana berkata: Chitrasena berulang kali mengajarnya nyanyian, alat muzik, dan tarian; namun Arjuna yang bertapa tidak memperoleh ketenteraman sedikit pun, kerana kehinaan akibat permainan dadu masih membara dalam ingatannya.

External accomplishments and refined skills cannot by themselves heal inner wounds; until the ethical injury and dishonor caused by adharma (here, the dice-game) are faced and integrated, the mind may remain unquiet despite training and discipline.
During the forest-exile setting, Chitrasena keeps teaching Arjuna the arts of song, instrumental music, and dance; however, Arjuna—described as an ascetic—still cannot find peace because he continues to remember the disgrace that arose from the gambling episode.
