bhūyaś ca śirasā yāce prasādya ca punaḥ punaḥ | iti bravīmi tigmāṃśo tvaṃ tu me kṣantum arhasi ||
Berkali-kali aku menundukkan kepala memohon, mencari perkenan-Mu dan berulang-ulang meminta keampunan. Demikianlah aku berkata, wahai Yang bersinar dengan sinar tajam; ampunilah aku atas apa yang akan aku ucapkan.
कर्ण उवाच
Before speaking words that may be harsh, controversial, or morally fraught, one should adopt humility and seek forgiveness—recognizing limits, showing reverence, and taking responsibility for the impact of one’s speech.
Karna addresses the Sun-god (his divine father) in a reverential tone, repeatedly bowing and asking pardon, and then asks the deity to forgive him for whatever he is about to say—signaling that a difficult request or confession is forthcoming.
