इष्टो भक्तश्न मे कर्णो न चान्यद् दैवतं दिवि | जानीत इति वै कृत्वा भगवानाह मद्धितम्,आपको यह मालूम है कि कर्ण मेरा प्रिय भक्त है और वह स्वर्गके दूसरे किसी भी देवताको (अपने इष्टरूपमें नहीं जानता है, यही समझकर आप मुझे मेरे हितका उपदेश कर रहे हैं
iṣṭo bhaktaś ca me karṇo na cānyad daivataṃ divi | jānīta iti vai kṛtvā bhagavān āha mad-dhitam |
“Engkau mengetahui bahawa Karna ialah bhakta yang engkau kasihi, dan bahawa dia tidak mengakui mana-mana dewa lain di syurga sebagai Tuhan pilihannya. Mengetahui hal itu, Yang Terpuji pun menyampaikan kepadaku nasihat yang ditujukan demi kebaikanku.”
