अग्निवंशवर्णनम् (Agni-vaṃśa-varṇana) / The Genealogy and Function of Agni

शब्द: स्पर्शक्ष रूपं च रसश्नापि द्विजोत्तम । अपामेते गुणा ब्रह्मन्‌ कीर्तितास्तव सुव्रत,द्विजश्रेष्ठ! शब्द, स्पर्श, रूप और रस--ये चार जलके गुण हैं। उत्तम व्रतका पालन करनेवाले ब्राह्मण! इनका वर्णन पहले भी आपसे किया गया है

śabdaḥ sparśaś ca rūpaṃ ca rasaś cāpi dvijottama | apām ete guṇā brahman kīrtitās tava suvrata ||

“Wahai yang terbaik antara yang dua kali lahir! Bunyi, sentuhan, rupa dan rasa—itulah sifat-sifat air. Wahai Brahmana yang teguh berikrar, hal ini telah pun aku jelaskan kepadamu sebelumnya.”
