Educational Q&A

Reverence toward ancestors and gods, together with respectful service to brāhmaṇas, is presented as a dharmic practice that generates enduring merit and leads to an imperishable blessed state (puṇya-loka).

Mārkaṇḍeya addresses a king and assures him that his pious conduct—worship of Pitṛs and deities and honoring brāhmaṇas—will certainly result in attaining a boundless realm of merit.
