स्वभावात्‌ क्रूरकर्माणश्वान्योन्यमभिशंसिन: । भवितारो जना: सर्वे सम्प्राप्ते तु युगक्षये,सभी स्वभावतः क्रूर और एक-दूसरेपर मिथ्या कलंक लगानेवाले होंगे। युगान्तकाल उपस्थित होनेपर सब लोग बगीचों और वृक्षोंको कटवा देंगे और ऐसा करते समय उनके मनमें पीड़ा नहीं होगी। प्रत्येक मनुष्यके जीवनधारणमें भी शंका हो जायगी। अर्थात्‌ प्रत्येक मनुष्यका जीवन धारण करना कठिन हो जायगा

mārkaṇḍeya uvāca | svabhāvāt krūrakarmāṇaḥ śvānyonyam abhiśaṃsinaḥ | bhavitāro janāḥ sarve samprāpte tu yugakṣaye ||

Mārkaṇḍeya berkata: “Menurut tabiatnya, semua manusia akan menjadi pelaku perbuatan kejam, dan saling memfitnah dengan tuduhan. Apabila yuga berakhir tiba, semua orang akan menjadi demikian.”

Mārkaṇḍeya is describing the characteristics of yuga-ending degeneration. In this line he summarizes the human condition at that time: people will be cruel in action and will habitually accuse and defame one another.
