एवमेतत्् त्वया कार्यमापृष्टोडसि व्रजाम्पहम् । ता न शक््या महत्यो वै आपस्तर्तु मया विना,“मुनिजनोंके प्रेमी तपस्वी नरेश! उस नावमें बैठे रहकर आप मेरी प्रतीक्षा कीजियेगा। मैं आपके पास अपने मस्तकमें सींग धारण किये आऊँगा। उसीसे आप मुझे पहचान लेंगे। इस प्रकार यह सब कार्य आपको करना है। अब मैं आपसे आज्ञा चाहता हूँ और यहाँसे जाता हूँ। उस महान् जलराशिको आपलोग मेरी सहायताके बिना पार नहीं कर सकेंगे
evam etat tvayā kāryam āpṛṣṭo 'si vrajāmy aham | tā na śakyā mahatyo vai āpas tartu mayā vinā ||
Mārkaṇḍeya berkata: “Demikianlah engkau mesti bertindak. Setelah memohon izin, kini aku berangkat. Air yang maha luas itu tidak dapat diseberangi tanpa pertolonganku.”
