ततः सुतुमुलं युद्ध चारुदेष्णविविन्ध्ययो: । वृत्रवासवयो राजन्‌ यथा पूर्व तथाभवत्‌,राजन्‌! तदनन्तर चारुदेष्ण और विविन्ध्यमें वैसा ही भयंकर युद्ध होने लगा, जैसा पहले इन्द्र और वृत्रासुरमें हुआ था

tataḥ sutumulaṃ yuddhaṃ cārudeṣṇavivindhyayoḥ | vṛtrāvāsavayo rājan yathā pūrvaṃ tathābhavat rājan ||

Kemudian, wahai Raja, tercetuslah pertempuran yang amat dahsyat antara Cārudeṣṇa dan Vivindhya—seperti pada zaman dahulu pertarungan menggerunkan antara Vṛtra dan Vāsava (Indra). Perbandingan ini menegaskan bahawa perang, apabila digerakkan oleh kesombongan dan permusuhan, boleh membesar menjadi kuasa pemusnah yang menggoncang dunia, mengulangi pola keganasan purba.
