निर्घातश्चाभवद् भीमो भीमे विक्रममास्थिते । चचाल पृथिवी चापि पांसुवर्ष पपात च,जिस समय भीम राक्षसोंके साथ युद्धमें भारी पराक्रम दिखा रहे थे, उस समय पृथ्वी हिलने लगी, आकाशमें भीषण गर्जना होने लगी और धूलकी वर्षा आरम्भ हो गयी
nirghātaś cābhavad bhīmo bhīme vikramam āsthite | cacāla pṛthivī cāpi pāṃsuvarṣa papāta ca ||
Vaiśampāyana berkata: Ketika Bhīma—mengerikan dalam kekuatan—berdiri teguh dalam keberanian yang garang dalam pertempuran melawan para rākṣasa, tanda-tanda buruk pun muncul: terdengar gemuruh yang dahsyat, bumi bergetar, dan hujan debu mulai turun. Adegan ini menegaskan bahawa daya luar biasa dan pertarungan yang ganas tercermin pada kegoncangan alam, menandai beratnya saat itu.
