युगेष्वावर्तमानेषु धर्मो व्यावर्तते पुन: । धर्मे व्यावर्तमाने तु लोको व्यावर्तते पुन:,युगोंके परिवर्तन होनेपर आनेवाले युगोंके अनुसार धर्मका भी हास होता जाता है। इस प्रकार धर्मके क्षीण होनेसे लोक (की सुख-सुविधा)-का भी क्षय होने लगता है
yugeṣv āvartamāneṣu dharmo vyāvartate punaḥ | dharme vyāvartamāne tu loko vyāvartate punaḥ ||
Bhīma berkata: “Apabila yuga-yuga berputar dan silih berganti, dharma juga menyimpang—merosot menurut sifat zaman yang datang. Dan apabila dharma merosot demikian, dunia sendiri turut merosot: tertib, kesejahteraan, serta keadaan yang menyokong kehidupan manusia berkurang bersamanya.”
