अध्याय ८ — शल्यस्य सत्कारः, वरदानं, पाण्डवसमागमश्च (Śalya’s Reception, the Boon, and Meeting the Pāṇḍavas)
सर्व दुःखमिदं वीर सुखोदर्क भविष्यति । नात्र मन्युस्त्वया कार्यो विधिहिं बलवत्तर:
sarva duḥkham idaṃ vīra sukhodarka bhaviṣyati | nātra manyus tvayā kāryo vidhihiṃ balavattaraḥ ||
Wahai pahlawan, segala penderitaan ini pada akhirnya akan berbuah menjadi kebahagiaan. Maka janganlah engkau menyerah kepada amarah; takdir lebih kuat.
शल्य उवाच
The verse counsels emotional restraint: do not be consumed by anger in adversity, because events unfold under a stronger ordering principle (vidhi), and present suffering may ripen into future good.
Śalya addresses a warrior as “vīra,” offering reassurance and counsel amid distress, urging him to set aside wrath and accept that the course of events is governed by destiny, with the promise that hardship can culminate in happiness.
