Dhṛtarāṣṭra berkata: “Wahai Brahmana, jika pengetahuan suci itu mudah diketahui melalui amalan brahmacarya, maka beritahulah aku terlebih dahulu bagaimana brahmacarya harus dipelihara. Jelaskan hal ini kepadaku.”

Educational Q&A

The verse frames brahmacarya (disciplined restraint and continence) as a primary means for attaining higher knowledge; Dhṛtarāṣṭra asks for a practical definition—what constitutes true brahmacarya and how it is lived.

In the Sanatsujātīya section of Udyoga Parva, Dhṛtarāṣṭra questions the sage Sanatsujāta. Here he requests instruction on brahmacarya, believing it to be the key discipline by which profound spiritual knowledge can be realized.
