भीष्मस्य दुर्योधनं प्रति कुलहितोपदेशः | Bhīṣma’s Counsel to Duryodhana on Dynastic Welfare

सर्वकामै: संविभक्तः पूजितश्न॒ यथासुखम्‌ । अहं वै धार्तराष्ट्राणां कुर्या तदफलं कथम्‌,धृतराष्ट्रके पुत्रोंने मुझे सब प्रकारकी मनोवांछित वस्तुएँ दी हैं और मुझे सुखपूर्वक रखते हुए सदा मेरा सम्मान किया है। उनके उस उपकारको मैं निष्फल कैसे कर सकता हूँ?

sarvakāmaiḥ saṃvibhaktaḥ pūjitaś ca yathāsukham | ahaṃ vai dhārtarāṣṭrāṇāṃ kuryā tad aphalaṃ katham ||

Karna berkata: “Putera-putera Dhṛtarāṣṭra telah berkongsi denganku segala kenikmatan yang kuingini, memuliakanku, dan memeliharaku dalam kesenangan. Bagaimana mungkin aku membiarkan budi mereka terhadapku menjadi sia-sia?”
