Triviṣṭapa
न तन्मनसि कर्ताव्यं पुत्र यद् द्यूतकारितम् । द्रौपद्याश्न परिक्लेशं न चिन्तयितुमहसि
vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca |
na tan manasi kartavyaṃ putra yad dyūtakāritam |
draupadyāś ca parikleśaṃ na cintayitum arhasi ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana berkata: “Wahai anakku, janganlah engkau menyimpan dalam hati kesalahan yang terjadi kerana perjudian itu. Dan janganlah engkau terus memikirkan penderitaan yang menimpa Draupadī kerana mereka. Lepaskanlah ia dari fikiranmu.”
वैशग्पायन उवाच
Do not cling mentally to past wrongdoing and the pain it caused; ethical maturity here is shown as restraint from brooding, and a deliberate turning away from resentment and grief.
Vaiśaṃpāyana counsels his listener (addressed as ‘son’) not to keep recalling the अपराध arising from the dice-game and not to keep dwelling on Draupadī’s affliction—framing the post-conflict moment as one of letting go rather than reopening old wounds.
