अभिमन्युविलापः (Abhimanyu-vilāpa) — Uttarā’s lament, observed and framed by Gandhārī
तस्योपलक्षये कृष्ण कार्ष्णेरमिततेजस: । अभिमन्योहतस्यथापि प्रभा नैवोपशाम्यति,श्रीकृष्ण! मैं देख रही हूँ कि मारे जानेपर भी अमिततेजस्वी अर्जुनपुत्र अभिमन्युकी कान्ति अभी बुझ नहीं पा रही है
tasyopalakṣaye kṛṣṇa kārṣṇer amitatejasaḥ | abhimanyohatasya athāpi prabhā naivopaśāmyati ||
Vaiśampāyana berkata: “Wahai Krishna, aku melihat dengan jelas bahawa sinar Abhimanyu—putera Arjuna yang memiliki keagungan tanpa batas—tidak pudar sedikit pun, meskipun dia telah terbunuh.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores the idea that true valor and dharmic stature leave an enduring ‘radiance’—a moral and reputational brilliance that does not vanish with bodily death, especially in the context of righteous sacrifice and heroic conduct.
In the aftermath of the war, while lamentation and mourning dominate the Strī Parva, the speaker points out to Krishna that Abhimanyu’s splendor remains perceptible even though he has been killed, highlighting his exceptional heroism and the poignancy of his loss.
