जयद्रथस्य कर्णस्य तथैव द्रोणभीष्मयो: । अभिमन्योर्विनाशं च कश्चिन्तयितुमहति,“इस युद्धमें जयद्रथ, कर्ण, द्रोणाचार्य, भीष्म और अभिमन्यु-जैसे वीरोंका विनाश हो जायगा, यह कौन सोच सकता था?
jayadrathasya karṇasya tathaiva droṇabhīṣmayoḥ | abhimanyor vināśaṃ ca kaś cintayitum arhati ||
Vaiśampāyana berkata: Siapakah yang dapat membayangkan bahawa dalam peperangan ini, kebinasaan akan menimpa wira-wira seperti Jayadratha, Karṇa, Droṇa, Bhīṣma dan Abhimanyu?
