Atithi-satkāra and the Consolation of Wise Counsel
ko jaya-prāptavāṁs tatra śaṁsaitad me janārdana |
The verse frames a theological inquiry about divine supremacy and the meaning of ‘victory’ in a cosmic conflict, inviting reflection on how dharma is upheld when great powers confront one another.
Arjuna directly questions Kṛṣṇa (addressed as Janārdana) about an earlier account of a catastrophic, world-threatening battle, asking which deity—Rudra or Nārāyaṇa—emerged victorious.
