Educational Q&A

A life of discipline (tapas) can coexist with engagement in worldly necessities and even limited enjoyments, provided one remains within the bounds of propriety (yathāvat) and does not abandon right conduct.

Two ascetic figures are described as traveling across the earth; despite their austerity, they partake of human enjoyments and continue their journey in an orderly, appropriate way.
