Ātma-saṃyama-dharma: One-pointedness of Mind and Senses (शुक–व्यास संवादः)
जघन्यशायी पूर्व स्यादुत्थाय गुरुवेश्मनि । यच्च शिष्येण कर्तव्यं कार्य दासेन वा पुन:,वह गुरुके सोनेके पश्चात् नीचे आसनपर सोवे और उनके जागनेसे पहले ही उठ जाय। गुरुके घरमें एक शिष्य या दासके करने योग्य जो कुछ भी कार्य हो, उसे वह स्वयं पूरा करे
jaghanyaśāyī pūrvaṃ syād utthāya guruveśmani | yac ca śiṣyeṇa kartavyaṃ kāryaṃ dāsena vā punaḥ ||
Vyāsa berkata: Seorang murid hendaklah berbaring di tempat yang paling rendah dan bangun sebelum gurunya, di dalam rumah guru. Apa jua kerja yang patut dilakukan oleh seorang pelajar—atau juga oleh seorang hamba—di situ, hendaklah dia sendiri melaksanakannya hingga selesai.
