रजोभूतैर्हि करणै: कर्मणि प्रतिपद्यते । स दु:खं प्राप्प लोकेडस्मिन्‌ नरकायोपपद्यते | तस्मान्मनोवाक्‌शरीरैराचरेद्‌ धैर्यमात्मन:,रजोगुणसे प्रभावित हुई इन्द्रियोंकी प्रेरणासे मनुष्य विषयभोगरूप कर्मामें प्रवृत्त होता है और इस लोकमें दुःख भोगकर अन्तमें नरकगामी होता है। अतः मन, वाणी और शरीरद्वारा ऐसा कार्य करे जिससे अपनेको धैर्य प्राप्त हो

rajobhūtair hi karaṇaiḥ karmaṇi pratipadyate | sa duḥkhaṃ prāpya loke 'smin narakāyopapadyate | tasmān manovākśarīrair ācaret dhairyam ātmanaḥ |

Bhīṣma berkata: “Apabila daya-daya diri digerakkan oleh sifat rajas, seseorang terdorong kepada perbuatan yang mengejar kenikmatan indera. Setelah menuai penderitaan di dunia ini, akhirnya ia menjadi layak menuju neraka. Maka, dengan minda, tutur kata, dan tubuh, hendaklah seseorang mengamalkan perilaku yang menumbuhkan keteguhan dan penguasaan diri.”
