Educational Q&A

Do not blame or resent the Pāṇḍavas; instead, understand suffering and defeat as consequences of one’s own actions (karma) and restrain envy and accusatory judgment.

In the midst of the Shalya Parva’s war-time narration, Vaiśampāyana reports a moral admonition: the listener is urged to avoid directing hostility toward the Pāṇḍavas and to interpret the unfolding calamity as self-caused rather than as grounds for blaming them.
