Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how royal legitimacy and martial prowess are publicly affirmed: the courtly elite rejoice at a prince’s consecration, showing that political order in the epic is sustained not only by ritual (abhiṣeka) but also by the community’s recognition of strength and readiness for duty in war.

Vaiśampāyana describes a celebratory scene: powerful warriors and eminent assembly members, with bell-adorned banners, dance and rejoice after witnessing the prince’s consecration, pleased by his famed strength and speed.
