दत्त्वा चैव बहून् दायान् विप्राणां विप्रवत्सल: । धर्मात्मा विप्रवत्सल हलधर बलरामजीने उस तीर्थमें स्नान करके ब्राह्मणोंको बहुत धनका दान किया
dattvā caiva bahūn dāyān viprāṇāṁ vipravatsalaḥ | dharmātmā vipravatsalaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana berkata: “Dengan kasih dan hormat kepada para brāhmaṇa serta berjiwa dharma, Balarāma, si pemegang bajak, setelah mandi di tīrtha itu telah mengurniakan sedekah harta yang banyak kepada para brāhmaṇa.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores dāna as a dharmic duty: supporting brāhmaṇas—seen as preservers of sacred knowledge and ritual order—through generous gifts is portrayed as a mark of a righteous character (dharmātmā).
The narrator (Vaiśampāyana) describes a righteous figure, characterized as vipravatsala, giving abundant donations to brāhmaṇas—an action typically associated with pilgrimage merit and the maintenance of social-religious order.
