Resolve for the Mace Duel

सर्वो विमृशते जन्तुः कृच्छुस्थो धर्मदर्शनम्‌ । पदस्थ: पिद्ठितं द्वारं परलोकस्य पश्यति,प्राय: सभी प्राणी जब स्वयं संकटमें पड़ जाते हैं तो अपनी रक्षाके लिये धर्मशास्त्रकी दुहाई देने लगते हैं और जब अपने उच्च पदपर प्रतिष्ठित होते हैं, उस समय उन्हें परलोकका दरवाजा बंद दिखायी देता है

sarvo vimṛśate jantuḥ kṛcchrastho dharmadarśanam | padasthaḥ pihitaṃ dvāraṃ paralokasya paśyati ||

Yudhiṣṭhira berkata: “Setiap makhluk, apabila jatuh dalam kesusahan, akan merenung dan merayu kepada dharma demi perlindungan. Namun apabila sudah tegak dalam kuasa dan kedudukan, pintu ke alam akhirat terlihat seolah-olah tertutup—lalu tuntutan kebenaran dilupakan sehingga bencana datang kembali.”
