“क्योंकि महान् तेजस्वी और बलवान् राजा जरासंधको भीमसेनने बाहुरूपी शस्त्रसे ही युद्धमें मार गिराया था ।।
yasmān mahān tejasvī balavāṃś ca rājā jarāsandho bhīmasenena bāhurūpeṇa śastreṇa yuddhe nipātitaḥ | tasya te śama evāstu pāṇḍavair bharatarṣabha | ubhayoḥ pakṣayor yukte kriyatām aviśaṅkayā bharatavaṃśaśiromaṇe ||
Kerana bahkan raja Jarāsandha yang agung, bercahaya dan perkasa pun telah ditumbangkan di medan perang oleh Bhīmasena, dengan lengannya sendiri sebagai senjata. Maka, wahai lembu jantan kaum Bharata, biarlah haluanmu terhadap para Pāṇḍava ialah perdamaian. Itulah dasar yang wajar bagi kedua-dua pihak. Wahai permata mahkota keturunan Bharata, laksanakanlah ikhtiar ini tanpa syak wasangka.
धृतराष्ट उवाच
Power and past victories should lead to prudent restraint: recognizing Bhīma’s proven strength, Dhṛtarāṣṭra urges a policy of śama (peaceful settlement) as the ethically and politically appropriate course for both parties.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra cites the precedent of Jarāsandha’s defeat at Bhīma’s hands to warn against escalation and advises maintaining peace with the Pāṇḍavas, urging an unbiased, suspicion-free decision that benefits both sides.
