Adhyāya 52 (Sabhā-parva): Vidura Invites Yudhiṣṭhira to Hastināpura for the Dice Match

दशान्यानि सहस््राणि यतीनामूर्थ्वरेतसाम्‌ । भुज्जते रुक्मपात्रीभिय्युधिष्ठिरनिवेशने,इसी प्रकार युधिष्ठिरके महलमें दूसरे दस हजार ऊर्ध्वरेता यति भी सोनेकी थालियोंमें भोजन करते हैं

daśānyāni sahasrāṇi yatīnām ūrdhvaretasām | bhuñjate rukmapātrībhiḥ yudhiṣṭhira-niveśane ||

Duryodhana berkata: “Di kediaman Yudhiṣṭhira, ada lagi sepuluh ribu pertapa, yang berikrar hidup dalam brahmacarya seumur hidup, turut diberi makan; mereka menjamah hidangan dari bejana-bejana emas.” Dalam konteksnya, baris ini menonjolkan keluasan jamuan diraja dan usaha mengumpul pahala di hadapan umum, namun juga membayangkan pandangan bersaing Duryodhana, yang melihat kemakmuran dharmic itu sebagai punca iri hati dan ketegangan politik.
