Maya’s Construction of the Assembly Hall
गदां च भीमसेनाय प्रवरां प्रददौ तदा । देवदत्तं चार्जुनाय शड्खप्रवरमुत्तमम्,उसने उस समय वह श्रेष्ठ गदा भीमसेनको और देवदत्त नामक उत्तम शंख अर्जुनको भेंट कर दिया
gadāṁ ca bhīmasenāya pravarāṁ pradadau tadā | devadattaṁ cārjunāya śaṅkhapravaram uttamam ||
Vaiśampāyana berkata: Pada waktu itu dia menghadiahkan gada yang unggul, yang terkemuka, kepada Bhīmasena; dan kepada Arjuna dia memberikan sangkakala agung bernama Devadatta—yang terbaik antara sangkakala.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic principle of appropriate bestowal: giving each warrior the emblem and weapon suited to his role reinforces rightful status, responsibility, and preparedness—honor is paired with duty.
In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, a benefactor formally presents key martial emblems: an excellent mace to Bhīmasena and the conch Devadatta to Arjuna, marking their equipment and distinction among the Pāṇḍavas.
