Jarā’s Account and the Enthronement of Jarāsandha (जरासंधोत्पत्तिः अभिषेकश्च)

उद्विग्ने सह सम्मन्त्रय ते भगिन्यौ तदाबले । सजीवे प्राणिशकले तत्यजाते सुदु:ःखिते,उनका हृदय उद्दिग्न हो उठा; अबला ही तो थीं। उन दोनों बहिनोंने अत्यन्त दुःखी होकर परस्पर सलाह करके उन दोनों टुकड़ोंको, जिनमें जीव तथा प्राण विद्यमान थे, त्याग दिया

Transliteration

udvigne saha sammantrya te bhaginyau tadābale | sajīve prāṇiśakale tatyajāte suduḥkhite ||

Translation

Their hearts became deeply agitated, for they were helpless women. In extreme sorrow, the two sisters consulted one another and then abandoned those two pieces of living flesh in which life-breath still remained—an act born of distress and incapacity rather than cruelty.
