अध्याय ९ — कर्णस्य प्रहारः, योधयुग्मनियोजनम्, शैनेय-कैकेययोर्युद्धविन्यासः
तदिदं समनुप्राप्तं वचन दीर्घदर्शिन: । उनकी इस बातको न माननेके कारण अवश्य ही मेरा पुत्र शोक कर रहा है। दूरदर्शी भीष्मजीकी वह बात आज सफल होकर सामने आयी है
tad idaṃ samanupprāptaṃ vacanaṃ dīrghadarśinaḥ |
Dhṛtarāṣṭra merenung bahawa nasihat yang berpandangan jauh dahulu kini telah nyata di hadapan matanya. Kerana puteranya tidak menerima nasihat itu, maka kini dia tidak dapat tidak ditelan dukacita; amaran Bhīṣma yang bijaksana terbukti benar dalam kenyataan perang yang kejam.
