Shloka 51

महाराज! ऐसी बात कहकर खूनसे भीगे और रक्तसे लाल मुखवाले, अत्यन्त क्रोधी, वेगशाली वीर भीमसेन युद्धमें विजय पाकर मुसकराते हुए पुनः श्रीकृष्ण और अर्जुनसे बोले --4वीरो! दुःशासनके विषयमें मैंने जो प्रतिज्ञा की थी, उसे आज यहाँ रणभूमिमें सत्य कर दिखाया ।। अन्रैव दास्याम्यपरं द्वितीयं दुर्योधनं यज्ञपशुं विशस्य । शिरो मृदित्वा च पदा दुरात्मन: शान्तिं लप्स्ये कौरवाणां समक्षम्‌,“यहीं दूसरे यज्ञपशु दुर्योधनको काटकर उसकी बलि दूँगा और समस्त कौरवोंकी आँखोंके सामने उस दुरात्माके मस्तकको पैरसे कुचलकर शान्ति प्राप्त करूँगा”

sañjaya uvāca | mahārāja! evaṃ bruvāṇaḥ śoṇitārdraḥ śoṇitāruṇavaktraḥ paramakrodhano vegavān vīro bhīmaseno raṇe vijitya smayamānaḥ punar eva śrīkṛṣṇārjunābhyāṃ provāca— “vīrāḥ! duḥśāsana-viṣaye yā pratijñā mayā kṛtā sā adya iha raṇabhūmau satyā kṛtā | anantaram dāsyāmy aparaṃ dvitīyaṃ duryodhanaṃ yajña-paśuṃ viśasya | śiro mṛdnīyāṃ ca padā durātmanaḥ śāntiṃ lapsye kauravāṇāṃ samakṣam” iti |

Sañjaya berkata: “Wahai Raja! Setelah berkata demikian, Bhīmasena—wira yang tubuhnya basah oleh darah, wajahnya merah oleh darah, amat murka dan pantas—memenangi pertempuran lalu, sambil tersenyum, berkata lagi kepada Śrī Kṛṣṇa dan Arjuna: ‘Wahai para wira! Sumpah yang aku ucapkan tentang Duḥśāsana, pada hari ini di medan perang ini telah aku jadikan benar. Seterusnya aku akan mempersembahkan korban yang kedua: aku akan membunuh Duryodhana sebagai binatang korban yajña; dan di hadapan seluruh Kaurava, aku akan menghancurkan kepala si durjana itu di bawah kakiku, lalu dengan itu aku memperoleh ketenteraman.’”
