कर्णस्य दानप्रतिज्ञा–शल्योपदेश–वाक्ययुद्धम्

उत्तमं व्यसन प्राप्तो भूमावेवावतिष्ठत । उस अश्वहीन रथसे कूदकर आपका पुत्र भारी संकटमें पड़नेपर भी वहाँ पृथ्वीपर ही खड़ा रहा (युद्ध छोड़कर भागा नहीं)
uttamaṃ vyasanaṃ prāpto bhūmāv evāvatiṣṭhata | aśvahīnaḥ rathasthaḥ kṛcchre ’pi na vyapākrāmat ||
Sañjaya berkata: “Setelah ditimpa malapetaka yang paling berat, putera tuanku tetap berdiri teguh di bumi. Walaupun ratanya telah kehilangan kuda dan dia dihimpit bahaya yang amat dahsyat, dia tidak berpaling atau lari dari medan perang—menunjukkan keteguhan hati ketika krisis.”
