प्रेषषामास राजेन्द्र ते5स्या भ्रश्यन्त वर्मण: । राजेन्द्र! फिर सोनेकी पाँखवाले नब्बे पैने बाण उसने चलाये, परंतु वे कृतवर्माके कवचसे फिसलकर गिर गये

sañjaya uvāca | preṣayāmāsa rājendra te ’syā bhraśyanta varmaṇaḥ |

Sañjaya berkata: Wahai raja, dia melepaskan anak-anak panah itu; namun semuanya meluncur dari baju zirahnya lalu jatuh. Dalam himpitan pertempuran, kemahiran seorang pahlawan bertemu perlindungan yang lahir daripada kesiapsiagaan dan keteguhan—hingga serangan panah yang ganas pun boleh gagal apabila berdepan pertahanan yang kukuh.
