Droṇa-parva Adhyāya 25 — Bhīma’s Disruption of Elephant Formations and Bhagadatta’s Shock Advance

The verse highlights a moral tension of war: combat can generate exhilaration and pride among warriors and troops, even while it entails violence and loss. It invites reflection on how passion for victory can intensify collective emotion and obscure the cost of destruction.
Sañjaya reports that a fierce close-quarters fight has begun between two great champions. The clash energizes both the surrounding soldiers and the two fighters, increasing their enthusiasm for the contest.
