Shloka 50

उस युद्धमें महारथी सात्यकिको प्रबल होते देख कर्ण आपके पुत्रकी रक्षाके लिये शीघ्र ही बीचमें कूद पड़ा ।। न तु तं मर्षयामास भीमसेनो महाबलः: । सो<भ्ययात्त्वरित: कर्ण विसृजन्‌ सायकान्‌ बहून्‌,परंतु महाबली भीमसेन उसका यह कार्य सहन न कर सके, अतः बहुत-से बाणोंकी वर्षा करते हुए उन्होंने तुरंत ही कर्णपर धावा किया

na tu taṃ marṣayāmāsa bhīmaseno mahābalaḥ | so 'bhyayāt tvaritaḥ karṇaṃ visṛjan sāyakān bahūn ||

Dalam peperangan itu, melihat Sātyaki sang maharathi semakin menguasai keadaan, Karna segera melompat masuk ke tengah untuk melindungi putera tuanku. Namun Bhīmasena yang perkasa tidak dapat menahan perbuatan itu; lalu dia serta-merta menyerbu Karna sambil melepaskan hujan anak panah yang banyak.
