स गाढविद्धो व्यथितो रथोपस्थ उपाविशत् | विसृज्य सशरं चापं मूर्च्छयाभिपरिप्लुत:,उन बाणोंकी गहरी चोट खाकर शिखण्डी व्यथित एवं मूर्च्छित हो धनुष-बाण त्यागकर रथकी बैठकमें बैठ गया
sa gāḍhaviddho vyathito rathopasthe upāviśat | visṛjya saśaraṃ cāpaṃ mūrcchayābhipariplutaḥ |
Sañjaya berkata: Ditembusi anak panah dengan dalam, Śikhaṇḍī menanggung sakit dan dilanda pengsan; dia melepaskan busurnya bersama anak panah lalu terkulai duduk di tempat duduk keretanya. Rangkap ini menegaskan harga jasmani yang keras dalam peperangan, dan bagaimana seorang pejuang yang teguh pun boleh ditundukkan oleh akibat segera keganasan.
संजय उवाच
