Droṇa-parva Adhyāya 114 — Karṇa–Bhīmasena Missile Exchange, Disarmament, and Arjuna’s Intervention

vināśam upayāsyanti maccharaugha-nipīḍitāḥ | dūṣaroke balapara jīnevāle duryodhanane in sab logoṅkā sadā ādara-sapūrvaka bharaṇa-poṣaṇa kiyā hai; parantu ye mere bāṇa-samūhoṅse pīḍita hokara āja vinaṣṭa ho jāyaṅge |

Educational Q&A

The verse contrasts outward patronage with inner moral weakness: those sustained by another’s power and favor may still meet ruin when the conditions of war and karma turn against them. It highlights the fragility of dependence and the harsh ethical reckoning of battlefield choices.

Sañjaya reports a warrior’s grim confidence: the opposing fighters—though long maintained and honored by Duryodhana—are now being overwhelmed by volleys of arrows and are about to be destroyed in the ongoing battle of Kurukṣetra.
