मां चापि शक्ता निर्जेतुं किमु मर्त्या महारथा: । “इन्हें वज्रधारी इन्द्र भी युद्धमें जीत नहीं सकते। इसी प्रकार समस्त देवता
māṃ cāpi śaktā nirjetuṃ kimu martyā mahārathāḥ | evaṃ tayoḥ saṃvadatoḥ phālguno niśitaiḥ śaraiḥ |
Sañjaya berkata: “Mereka pun tidak mampu menewaskan aku—apatah lagi para pejuang fana, walaupun masyhur sebagai maharathi?” Ketika kedua-duanya masih berbicara demikian, Phālguna (Arjuna) pun mula bertindak dengan anak panah yang tajam menghiris—menandakan bahawa keangkuhan dan gertakan kini mesti dijawab dengan kemahiran tempur yang berdisiplin.
