Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical dimension of leadership in crisis: when commanders take their proper stations and act with steadiness, collective morale rises. Inner composure (sumanas) and disciplined readiness become visible as confidence and enthusiasm, shaping the conduct of the whole force.

After arranging themselves in their assigned places, the leading warriors—along with their troops—settle into formation. Their faces and minds show joy and eagerness, indicating that the army is now organized and emotionally prepared for the impending battle.
