The verse models measured judgment: a ruler should not leap to fear or suspicion based on vague signs. Yudhiṣṭhira reports what he truly observes—almost nothing inauspicious—thus emphasizing restraint, truthfulness, and responsible interpretation of bodily ‘omens’ in governance.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses a king and assesses Arjuna’s bodily marks. He states that he sees no troubling sign in Arjuna, except that Arjuna’s calves are somewhat thicker than usual—presented as the only notable physical feature.
