Adhyāya 32: Tāpasānāṃ Darśanaṃ — Ascetics Seek to Identify the Pāṇḍavas
साध्वाचारा दमोपेता दाननिर्धूतकल्मषा: । ऋजव: शुचय: शान्ता हिंसानृतविवर्जिता:
vaiśampāyana uvāca | sādhvācārā damopetā dānanirdhūtakalmaṣāḥ | ṛjavāḥ śucayaḥ śāntā hiṃsānṛtavivarjitāḥ |
Vaiśampāyana berkata: Mereka yang teguh dalam akhlak mulia, memiliki pengendalian diri, yang dosanya disucikan oleh sedekah, yang lurus, bersih dan tenang, serta menjauhi kekerasan dan dusta—wahai Bhārata—apabila mendengar bahagian epik yang menakjubkan ini, akan mencapai keadaan yang tertinggi.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse teaches that the fruit of hearing this parvan is highest for those who cultivate dharmic virtues—good conduct, self-restraint, generosity that purifies, straightforwardness, purity, peace, and abstention from violence and falsehood—linking spiritual benefit to ethical living.
Vaiśampāyana, as narrator, describes the kind of listener who gains the supreme result from hearing this ‘wonderful’ portion of the Mahābhārata, functioning as a phalaśruti-style statement that commends both the text and the virtues aligned with it.
