न च तौ चक्रतुः क्रोधं॑ दम्पती सुमहामती । तयो: सम्प्रेक्षतोरेव पुनरन्तर्हितो5भवत्‌,परंतु उन परम बुद्धिमान्‌ दम्पतिने उनपर क्रोध नहीं प्रकट किया। उन दोनोंके देखते- ही-देखते वे मुनि फिर अन्तर्धान हो गये

na ca tau cakratuḥ krodhaṁ dampatī sumahāmatī | tayoḥ samprekṣator eva punar antarhito 'bhavat ||

Bhishma berkata: Namun suami isteri yang amat bijaksana itu tidak sekali-kali menyerah kepada kemarahan terhadap mereka. Ketika kedua-duanya masih memandang, sang resi itu sekali lagi lenyap dari penglihatan—menegaskan bahawa penguasaan diri dan kesabaran lebih tinggi daripada pembalasan, walaupun seseorang diprovokasi.
